Can I place images near adsense ads?

Friday 5 January 2007 @ 8:31 am

Well, it’s finally been cleared up. No you can’t. Google policy team has laid down the law and it’s official, you are not allowed to place images lined up with your adsense in such a way as it may confuse a visitor. I would like to acknowledge
Mikes Blog for pointing this out

You can find all the details about placing images near your adsense ads at Googles Adsense Blog.

Death of Adsense and Click Flipping

Saturday 23 September 2006 @ 2:49 am

So the secret’s out now regarding the Death of Adsense report. According to an email I just received, the amount of interest in this fried a computer at Scott Boulch’s office,27500 people downloaded this report in a very short space of time. His site hit 464 on Alexa. Well this should be a message to Google that the “secret” is out, only it wasn’t really a secret. It’s just that noone bothered to rally the internet marketing world in an organized fashion and in the way that they are used to.

So what will we see in the future. According to Scott - the alternative is something called click flipping and the main purveyors that he recommends are azoogle and one other which slips my mind.

I’m afraid I am going to miss the boat on this one, mainly because I rushed into so many other things that were the next best thing since sliced bread and once everyone is on to it, it becomes supersaturated.

In fact, what is the main way people are going to be driving traffic to this new breed of site. Adsense. So rather than die adsense will be enjoying a rush of new traffic, however the advertisers will be educated and bid lowly bids on content sites.

Google themselves have clamped down on anything remotely resembling lead capturing sites by inflating bid prices to discourage the activity which is duly published on their blog and is no trade secret. They are still the best source of PPC traffic that I know of and I regularly use them for my clients. Yahoos pretty good too.

So we are going to see a temporary rush of over excited marketers trying to master a new technology whilst the platform is already cornered.

Google themselves are releasing their own version of CPA - which stands for cost per acquisition. In other words, going straight for the jugular. That is what the client wants.
Their sheer muscle, as I have mentioned before should leave them in the front of this latest offering.

The question that I must ask is when Google brings this out how many companies will stick with their affiliate providers such as commission junction, who have recently suspended my account for 2 months of inactivity - harsh I thought as well as taking $26 dollars of my commission in management fees.

Aye, changes are afoot and the writing could be on the wall for fuddy duddy organizations that thought everything would stay the same.

I mean if a company can pay google to gather leads for them and it’s cheaper than dealing with an affiliate aggregator, then there will be some big shifts. At the start of the operation I am speculating that ‘honeymoon’ deals will be offered to high profile organisations to jump ship. And from there - well - you know how it goes. The rest will follow - mix it up with a bit of public relations for good measure.

So Adsense was never dead, it was just a lot harder to make a buck and a lot better value for advertisers. That’s the truth of the whole saga.

Whether one man can start a trend is debatable. There must be a solid incentive and a critical cash pathway that can be followed. The rubber band effect of telling everyone at once who now compete with each other makes this whole click flipping idea less than attractive, but the maths of $x dollars versus $xx dollars does make sense to a lot of people.

Anyway, maybe I bored you, and maybe you see things differently, but as always, how you see it is which team you are batting for, mixed in with a bit of hope, whistling past graveyards and good ‘ol faith.

New controversial report - the death of adsense

Wednesday 13 September 2006 @ 12:20 pm

Who is Scott Boulch? Well, he’s a guy who earns $50000 per month on as yet undisclosed method but we will find out soon.

His shockingly titled report is The Death of Adsense

Pretty jolting huh? Well, I was guessing what it could be about. Was there some other change to adsense policies that I didn’t know about. What the hell was he talking about?

I mean I was getting paid still. I think. Anyway, i couldn’t resist, even though i felt like a very naughty boy for reading such controversial material, so to cut a long story short I downloaded it.

So you want me to tell you what’s in it?

Well… I’m not going to because that would deprive you of your thrills …you’ll have to download it
