Well your intrepid webmaster has once again stumbled upon a piece of programming simplicity, known as SimplePie. The name is obviously a derivative of Magpie RSS Parser, and the creators do not try to hide the fact that they have been inspired by efforts of those that have gone before.
Now I won’t tell you where I’m using it but I am a relative newbie to PHP, but getting better all the time and I quite easily managed to add two different feeds to a web site project that I’m working on. Both feeds side by side and all for free too.
That’s right, SimplePie is Open Source, which means you can use it right now.
I must confess, I also have another Feed Parser that I use, which also does a bangup job but this one seems to be comparable, even so far as supporting podcast and video feeds.
That reminds me, did I mention www.podcastdir.net, my podcast directory. It’s worth a look and if you are into podcasts at all, then definitely add your feed to that.
