Whilst building a new web site, I decided to give PNG images a go because gifs, just were not working. The result was fabulous. They came out perfectly.
Only thing was I looking at the page in Firefox.
PNG images are a recommendation of the W3C consortium for web standards.
Now here’s the bad news….
I went innocently to look at my page in IE and lo and behold the images had an ugly gray
rectangle - where they were transparent. I first thought that I was a doofus, but then I realised it was just another cross browser foible.
IE does not fully support PNG images, despite them being a way superior format with no patent issues like gifs.
On the good guy side we have MAC and Firefox. In the light of the recent debacle with ActiveX I believe that Microsoft could engender some Public Relations Kudos, by releasing support for this format at all haste.
I have signed a petition requesting this and I would ask that you also sign it - there are so
far 25000 signatories requesting this support from Microsoft and most of these would be web designers, not people in the street.
So if you want a better web, and support for PNG should you one day decide to use it, please lend your voice to this popular petition and let’s see if we can get something happening on this.

IE, PNGI’ve been looking for an autoresponder service, and I’ve tried a few freebies - 2 actually. One of them EGGS and the other one from SFW site, written by David Zohar.
Ok so how did they go?
Well I installed EGGS but it didn’t send emails. The forum where support is supposed to occur is not active and the guy is not answering my emails, even though I donated.
Therefore at this stage I do not recommend this for obvious reasons, but of course that is your choice.
The David Zohar free one was similar, would not send emails. Perhaps it works, perhaps not but since he did not answer my emails requesting help I have to say that unless you are a genius who can debug scripts and possibly rewrite code, I do not recommend this either. This is the current status of both.
In fairness to them both they were free or donation based scripts and you get what you pay for. No support and possibly not working. But this is a review, so I have to report what happened. Not cool tools.
Out of fairness, I will update this, should either of them contact me.
So where did I end up. Well, I did a quick whip around of all the autoresponders I could find and decided that Get Response auto responder had the most bang for the buck. So this is where I will end up most likely.
The other one that was a possibility was Aweber, which has been around for a long time and is used by Jimmy Brown and Yanik Silver.
But a feature comparison put Get Response Autoresponder on top, so I will most likely go with that.
I hope this little report has been interesting. And if you are looking for an autoresponder don’t waste your time with a freebie. It seems in this area anyway, you get what you pay for.
autoresponder, aweber, get responseThere were some rumors … but they are just not true.

And yes… there was some truth to the rumours that I am starting yet another web site… this one is really making me read my PHP for dummies book hard. Have you ever sat down for
3 hours trying to solve one little thing? Enough to give you a sore back. This post is going to ruin my SEO, but who cares?
I will reveal everything shortly …
