If you are not interested in programming or the underlying technology behind the web please stop here.
2006 seems to me to be very fast paced, in terms of the number of things happening on the internet. Google itself is driving forward into new areas. But on the other end of the scale there is a lot of activity with the small internet entrepreneur. Maybe it’s just the circles I move in.
But you know, it’s just a thought. Something that seems that way.
I’m following the whole .NET thing and I believe that it is a powerful force because it’s based on a solid technological foundation.
Seems to me that it makes Java somewhat redundant, but the beautiful thing for Java programmers is that .NET languages such as C# are very similar.
.NET is the sort of thing that will make an era and a culture - the question will be .NET or open source - at least that’s the way it seems.
Now anything in this post that you know about please feel free to provide your knowledge because i am no programming expert - just have a very basic knowledge. You know read a couple of books, halfway through a tutorial on C#.
Is .NET a boon to the world or a super sophisticated ploy by microsoft to own the internet?
Let me know what you think? I think .NET is worth talking about. I have looked into the technology and let me tell you - it’s scary - it has the potential to turn any body into a computer programmer - it is a powerful infrastructure for networking logic instructions across many platforms.
.NET is here to stay - the question is - will it be accessible to the common man. Microsoft has answered this question with the release of Visual Studio Expres versions. But as I write this I realise that they answer that question but still stack the deck to a foregone conclusion.
Once you invest learning power into something then it’s hard to move off of it onto something else even if you got it free. Why? Because we are driven to produce something. Not flit around like bees from one flower to the next. That is the road of the dilletante.
Once our hearts and minds and belief has been captured by a software language, we are hesitant to move off it and we become true believers.
Anyway - time for breakfast - check you all later. Please put some comments in here. I want to see if anyone actually read this thing.
