Skippy Plugins to Enter Wordpress Core

Wednesday 30 November 2005 @ 6:12 am

Looks like the next version of wordpress will be version 2.0 according to Skippy’s “wild speculation”, however from someone who has had his wordpress plugins included in the wordpress core, I would say there is a fair chance he’s got the pulse of things Wordpress.

Yes, Skippy’s wordpress database back up plugin will be included in the latest wordpress version and it looks like his wp-cron plug-in will be there too.

Way to go Skippy.

P.S I use some of Skippy’s plugins on this site and they are cool. Visit Skippy’s post about Wordpress 2.0

Pinch of Salt needed with Chitika Click Return Claims

Tuesday 29 November 2005 @ 3:46 am

I just viewed one too many advertisements for Chitika by overly excited marketers and it was the straw that broke the camels back.

Here’s what I found - “Get onto hot new pay per click program that pays between 3 to 10 times more per click than Google Adsense Program”

This was at a well known marketer’s site. Ok, so I can’t see his statement record, but from the fair amount of experience I have had with Chitika, the amount per click is fairly high and I have never had
a .05c click or a .01 cent click, but there is no way that I would say that it is:

3 to 10 times higher than adsense
$1 per click

or many of the other statements I have seen.

The actual truth of the matter is that there are higher click values in adsense in my own case, plus a more regular return.

I consider Chitika to be an accompaniment to adsense and not a replacement. The Google Adsense program has been very good to me. In fact it was the first program on the internet where I actually made some money, so I am not a Google hater or trying to do Google in.

If you are going to provide information to webmasters you should present it in a balanced way. You wouldn’t want someone to pull all their Google Ads from their site and find their income dropping.

Chitika simply does not have full international coverage yet - although that is changing with the UK coming on board and soon more countries.

The Google Program is still the top dog and it will be a long time before any other program is a serious threat.

Wordpress Plugin - Automatic metatags | Automatic Technorati Tags

Sunday 20 November 2005 @ 5:39 am

Richard Boakes has kindly alerted me to his latest Wordpress Plugin which automatically suggests metatags and technorati tags based on the content of your post.

Now this is a pretty neat concept as far as SEO for you blog goes. The plugin gives you a chance to accept or modify them before final posting which is a good feature.

You can download this wordpress plugin here: Wordpress Plugin - Automatic metatags | Automatic Technorati Tags
